Spring Adventures From The Boars Head

Spring Adventures From The Boars Head

This spring, we have already seen a mixture of glorious sunshine and warmer than average days, followed by late snows, and certainly frosty mornings. Meaning it’s pretty difficult to predict the weather that we will see over the next few weeks. However, don’t let that stop you from making the most of the local area on your visit to The Boars Head.

Spring Outdoor Adventures

When the sun is shining, and there’s just a gentle breeze passing your face as you walk by, why not get out and explore some of the wonderful places that Derbyshire has to offer. Situated in Draycott-in-the-Clay we are a prime location to access a number of these great places. Here are just a few of our favourites:

Swadlincote Snowsports Centre – For a day of energy fuelled excitement, the snowsports centre has something for every ability. Whether you have hit the slopes before, or are a complete newbie to the sport, there’s certainly something to enjoy, not to mention getting the kids involved too!

Dovedale – This stunning area of natural beauty is part of the Peak District and has a wealth of stunning scenes throughout the area. From Thorpe Cloud, an isolated limestone hill, to the stepping stones across the River Dove. With wildlife all over the area, make sure to take your camera, you might capture an amazing shot!

Too Wet For Outdoors

We know that April isn’t always as dry as we would like it to be. So we’ve added a few indoor activities to our suggestions, just so you have some dry options should you still wish to get out and explore. Our favourites include:

Pickford’s House – As part of the Derby museums collection, Pickford’s house allows you to step back in time and get a feel for how people used to live. With something to keep both adults and children entertained, this unique museum even boasts regular events, so check out their website to see if there’s anything on during your visit.

Derby Cathedral – This spectacular building is more than just a spiritual building. It’s a place where you can go to feel at peace, a place to express your faith. The friendly community welcomes visitors with open arms. And if staying for a service isn’t your cup of tea, make sure you take a look at the stunning architecture before you leave.
