Don’t Miss Festive Entertainment in Derby This Christmas

Pantomime season has arrived and we are officially here for it. This year, we are spoiled for choice with a wide range of pantomimes and Christmas shows taking place in Derby and the surrounding areas. In this blog post, we’ve put together a collection of nearby events suitable for all the family. Peter Pan 

Derby Arena, 7th December to 4th January 2020 

Ideal for kids and adults who never want to grow up, Peter Pan at Derby Arena is sure to be an evening of fun and frolics. The cities biggest pantomime will this year feature actor Morgan Bring as Auntie Hilda, Emmerdale’s Bill Ward as the swashbuckling Captain Hook, and CBeebies’ own Katrina Bryan as Tinker Bell. 

This panto promises ‘spectacular effects, loads of laughs and jokes that grab you hook, line and sinker’. Book your tickets here today. 

Cinderella 

Buxton Opera House, 12th December to 1st January 2020 

This year, the unforgettable story of Cinderella is bought to life in a glorious pantomime style at Buxton Opera House. Featuring star of Waterloo Road turned CBBC presenter Sharon Flynn and returning cast member James Holmes, this panto from CTP Pantomimes in conjunction with Buxton Opera House promises to be ‘a show that’s pure magic from beginning to end’. 

A Christmas Carol 

Derby Theatre, 29th November to 4th January 2020 

Not quite a pantomime, but a Christmas classic, all the same, A Christmas Carol returns to Derby Theatre this year. This adaptation by Neil Duffield is sure to be a heart-warming experience for the whole family as Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three spirits in the space of one night and rediscovers the true meaning of Christmas. 

Festive Film Screenings 

Derby Cathedral, 21st December 2019 

Christmas films are best enjoyed with family and friends. This year, Derby Cathedral has outdone itself by arranging a screening of festive favorites in the run up to Christmas. On 21st December they will screen two fantastic Christmas films, Home Alone and Muppets Christmas Carol. This festive gathering is sure to be heaps of fun, and suitable for children of all ages – even big kids! 

The Snowman 

The Riverside Centre, Derby, 2nd December

What better way to kickstart the season than with a very special screening of The Snowman? This iconic classic will be screening at The Riverside Centre in Derby on the 2nd of December with a live orchestra bringing the music to life in this truly enchanting Christmas experience.
