Alton Towers

If you’re looking for hotels near Alton Towers, look no further than the Boars Head gastropub in Derbyshire. The UK’s largest theme park resort is only less than half an hour away from our Derbyshire hotel. Built around the stunning Alton Towers stately home, this theme park can entertain you, your family and friends for days.

What To Do Whilst You’re There?

From the humble beginnings of the main attractions being the Corkscrew and Pirate Ship, Alton Towers has come a long way. Inspired by Disneyland, no expense has been spared on creating the multiple different worlds within the park. Alton Towers Resort is now home to over 40 rides and attractions. If you’re one of the adrenaline junkies, looking to get the biggest possible thrill out of your trip, the ten main roller coasters each hold record breaking elements to put your will to the test. From the daunting Wicker Man, that ignites as you blister down the track, to the Smiler, the first 14 loop rollercoaster in the world, there’s plenty to choose from. The question is, are you brave enough?

For those looking to make the most of the good weather, Alton Towers is also home to infamous waterpark Splash Landings. Whether you’re looking to splash around and relax, or take on our high speed, heart pounding water slides, there’s something for everyone. The Master Blaster will take you around the whole waterpark at breathtaking speeds and the Rush ‘N’ Rampage will take you on a personalised journey where you can choose your own soundtrack. For those travelling with family and children in particular, Alton Towers is also home to Cbeebies Land. Here, your kids can meet all of their favourite characters from the Teletubbies, Hey Duggee, The Furchester Hotel and many more. Filled with attractions for all ages and a variety of live shows, your little ones will learn, play and inspire their imaginations. On top of all this, you should also keep an eye on events page. You never know whether you might come across a ghoul at Scarefest or a naughty little Santa elf at Christmas.

Food and Drink

Whilst you’re at the park, you may feel like grabbing some lunch or a snack throughout the day. For a more substantial lunch, there are plenty of restaurants in the resort to choose from. For something more traditional, you could try the Woodcutters Bar & Grill or the Explorers Pizza Pasta Buffet. Alternatively, if you’re willing to try something new you could use the Rollercoaster Restaurant. As the UK’s very first of its kind, your order will tackle gravity defying loops before dropping onto your table.

If you’re looking for a lighter snack, there are plenty of options for that too. From the coffee lounge to the Welcom-inn, you can find anything from sandwiches and pastries to alcoholic beverages and bar snacks. Of course, once you’ve finished and you land back at the hotel, you can sit back in our restaurant and recount your day whilst tasting the delights of our gastropub menu.
