See The Christmas Lights Switch On & Lantern Parade
Don’t miss this year’s Christmas Lights Switch On & Lantern Parade in Derby city centre. On the 2nd December, catch the mesmerising Sultan Arts Lantern Parade at the Market Place from 4pm. Stop by the giant snow globe for the perfect opportunity to capture those all-important family photos. Watch the live entertainment on stage and indulge in tasty treats before the big switch on at 5:30pm and see Derby light up before your eyes!
Get Your Skates On
From the 2nd to 31st December, we will see the return of the Cathedral Quarter Ice Rink at the Derby’s Market Place. Adults and children of all abilities can get their skates on and take to the ice for an hourly session. Sit-on skate aids will be available on a first come first served basis for those who are new to ice skating. Warm up afterward with a cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine from the rinkside café. For those who wish to watch, they can relax in the viewing platform which offers an excellent view of the ring and a more relaxed atmosphere.
Visit Santa’s Grotto
Meet Santa and his helpers at The Cathedral Quarter Christmas Grotto between the 9th and 22nd December. Witness the mesmerising Northern Lights, a 360-degree experience will take you all the way to Santa’s Grotto in the North Pole. Meeting the man himself and capturing the joy and excitement on all of the little one’s faces. Each child will also receive a heartwarming gift. Don’t forget to take a family photo in the specially designed photo station so you can capture all of those cherished memories.
Attend Christmas at Pickford’s House
Pickford’s house is a well-known attraction in Derby city. To celebrate the festive season, they will be holding a Pinocchio themed event on 2nd December, packed with festive fun and games. Pop by the coffee house for some festive treats and visit the Museum & Art Gallery shop for handcrafted stocking fillers, homeware pieces and decorations. Tickets are £3 for children under 16 years and adults go free. A budget-friendly activity that is sure to be fun for the whole family!
