There is nothing better than participating in festive activities to get into the festive spirit! Whether it’s decorating your home with Christmas lights and ornaments or singing along to classic Christmas hits, these experiences have a unique way of bringing the warmth and excitement that defines the festive season. The shared laughter and the feeling of togetherness create a magical atmosphere that can only be found during this special time of year. To spread the festive cheer further, we will share the top things to do at Christmas in Derby.

Christmas Shopping at Derbion

If you are up for some Christmas shopping, Derbion is the place to be! Located in the heart of Derby city centre, this shopping centre has a wide variety of shops including Card Factory, M&S, GAME, Boots, Build-A-Bear, Toy Planet and much more. Get your Christmas shopping done while enjoying the festive decorations around the shopping centre. From 10th November to 24th December, you can also take the family to Santa’s Magic Cabin. Meet and take a photograph with Father Christmas himself. Embark on a virtual reality experience and take to the skies in Santa’s Magic Sleigh Ride.

Get Your Skates On

Derby’s very own ice rink, the Cathedral Quarter Ice Rink will be back from the 3rd to 31st December. Suitable for adults and children over 5 with toddler sessions available for children under 5. Bring the whole family and get your skates on for a session. Prices start from £7.50. After taking to the ice, enjoy a warming hot chocolate or mulled wine. Ice skating is a popular and must-do festive activity, so make sure to book your tickets sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment!
