Out And About in Sudbury

Out And About in Sudbury

Sudbury, a beautiful little village nestled in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside. A short venture from Derby and Burton on Trent and central to some incredible views. It’s not hard to see why so many would use The Boars Head as a nice base before exploring the area.

The Local Area

There are some great things to get out and about and enjoy around Sudbury. Even if the weather isn’t great. Even when Mr Frost has been to pay a visit, you can always come back and warm up here at The Boars Head hotel. Doveridge Clay Sports – just around the corner we have the fantastic Doveridge clay sports. A place to focus your aim, and have some great fun with the whole family Alton Towers – This year, Alton Towers has some great winter events that are worth taking a look at. Don’t forget we’re a great choice of hotel near Alton Towers! Carsington Water – This stunning reservoir is a great place for watersports in the summer, but in the winter the visitors centre becomes a great base to start your winter walks, looking out over the waters.

Hearty Feasts

As far as gastropubs in Sudbury go, you would find it hard to beat the amazing food here at The Boars Head. We know there are some firm favourites when it comes to winter feasts such as the minted lamb shank, confit belly pork, nut roast and roasted aubergine and chickpea curry. It’s not always winter warmers. Sometimes all you want is to enjoy some fabulous finger foods, and a cake or two. Why not consider the finest afternoon tea in Derbyshire? Here at The Boars Head, our afternoon tea includes a selection of freshly made sandwiches on fresh-baked bread, paired with homemade scones and cakes to help tickly your tastebuds.
