Local Places For Scenery
As we are just a stone’s throw from the Peak District, the first place we recommend heading is straight to Dovedale, where you can find a selection of walks for all abilities, which take you across the stepping stones, or up the hills to enjoy the stunning views across the peak district. You will also find some spectacular views at Carsington water. The 9th largest reservoir in England boasts a range of activities that you can enjoy. From simple strolls along the water’s edge to horse riding, fishing and even watersports for those more adventurous.
Places For Adrenaline
Adrenaline junkie? Or just fancy trying something new? We’re a short drive away from the famous Alton Towers, where you can find a range of rollercoasters suitable for everyone from small children to thrill-seeking adults! Which one will be your favourite? We love the classic Oblivian! Not a rollercoaster fan? Fear not! You can get your thrills at the local Swadlincote Snow Sports Centre. You can try your hand at tobogganing or tubing, or progress further with a lesson or two in skiing or snowboarding. You can even book in for a family session!
Markeaton Park
With so much to do, Markeaton Park deserves its own category. For the crafty amongst us, head into the orangery and visit the craft visit, where you might even get to paint your own pot! You can also get active with the kids with a spot of mini-golf, a dip in the paddling pool or even venture to the Mundy play centre! After all the fun, you can have a spot of coffee in the cafe while overlooking the gardens.
